The Crucible
Tier 1 of the Suggestion Smithy
Tier 1 of the Suggestion Smithy
---Within our currently small, but tight-knit, community is a multitude of brilliant ideas and projects just willing to flourish in our roleplay environment. Knowing this we have devised a manner of allowing the community decide on what IT wants to add to the world of Ravare rather than just what the staff want. To keep in-step with the fantasy, or really more so medieval, theme we have named this system the "Suggestion Smithy".
---The current board you find yourself in is the start of this system, the Crucible. Here ideas are to be presented by the community, for the community, to be judged by the community. The total of staff involvement will just be moving on successful ideas into the next part of the system. Judging takes place over the period of 5 days.
As a Submitter
---Though we may wish for you to be completely as unique as you feel comfortable with there is a few things that are required for you to actually move on to the next part of the "Suggestion Smithy" no matter how well-liked your suggestion is. It's a short list, so bear with us.
Content Minimum
---Everyone knows putting a word or page count on something can be frustrating so we only have a requirement of a minimum of 2 paragraphs. This is to insure that your idea is getting across properly and to make it so any alteration that may be needed to conform to canon lore is easier to do. As a rule of thumb: "More is more; not less!"
Judging Period
---Even if your suggestion is 100% agreed with by the community we still require it to be posted for judging for a total of 5 days from it's original posting. If your suggestion has more than a 60% approval rate it will be moved onto the next part of the "Suggestion Smithy". If it has under that 60% approval rating it will be moved to the "Scrap Yard", but don't let that put you down! You can resubmit it whenever you want. Just make sure you changed enough and fixed any concerns the community may have had otherwise they will just decline it again. You can only resubmit the same suggestion three times, so be careful!
Swing the Votes
---While there is not an exact science on how to convince the community your ideas are worth exploring further as permanent additions to the world of Ravare below are a few things that can greatly sway things in your favor.
- Keep to your topic, add backstory as you see fit, but not too much to dilute your original suggestion.
- More is more; not less!
- While not everyone will care using appropriate spelling and grammar will greatly improve your chances.
- The better format you present the suggestion the more likely people will read it.
- A picture is worth a thousand words
As a Judge
---First and foremost don't be a dick. While not every suggestion that comes across this board will be a diamond in the rough there is no reason to belittle the person that wrote it or really the topic itself just because you don't like it. Judge the suggestion based on it's content not it's creator. Another key point is to make sure you actually understand the canon lore before explaining why something might not work otherwise you might end up looking like a fool.
